Online Meeting UNG 15–20: Amedia and Gift Subscriptions for 15- to 20-Year-Olds – Experiences & Learnings

Since June 2025, the Norwegian media company Amedia has been giving all 15- to 20-year-olds free access to the digital content of its newspapers. With UNG 15–20, Amedia aims to introduce young people to local quality journalism at an early stage while also gaining a better understanding of which topics, formats and access routes work for this target group. Amedia has reached 60,000 young people – around 15 per cent of the entire age cohort in Norway.

In the online meeting on Tuesday, 19 May 2026, from 2 to 3 pm, project lead Helene Wille Lund will report on the experiences gained so far from the pilot phase, which will end in summer 2026.

The meeting will focus on the strategic idea behind the initiative, the role of the local newspaper titles in registration and usage, and the question of which content and news situations resonate particularly well with young people. Together, we will take stock of the project so far and discuss which learnings can be derived from it for local media companies.

The presentation will be held in English and will include German subtitles.
